Ep. 12: An Evening With Camillo, Part Two

October 22, 2010, 12:00 am | View Comments

Here’s the thrilling conclusion to the interview with my good friend, Mike Camillo. Alternate titles for this issue include “This is Spinal Tap (For Real)” and “The Thing About MS Is…”

Issues discussed:

  • Spinal taps and the odd side-effects of losing spinal fluid
  • The inability to gauge how tightly you’re gripping something and the implications of that impaired judgement
  • Yes, including that kind of gripping
  • Yes, this episode gets vaguely graphic
  • But it’s also very gripping
  • More bad puns

Ep. 11: An Evening With Camillo, Part One

September 10, 2010, 2:32 am | View Comments

Well, it’s sure been a while since I last posted a podcast episode. So, let’s just call this the “season premiere” and pretend that it’s the beginning of a “fall season” which I will update “regularly.”

In this episode, we check in with our good friend Camillo, who we last heard from back in January after he made up his mind to eat better, work out, and lose some weight. Listen to him describe how he set out to improve his health, and listen to him explain how he ended up getting a bunch of tests from seemingly-uninterested doctors, eventually leading to a spinal tap.

It’s a very special episode of The Gavin Show!

Ep. 10: Recycling Bin Thief and Personal Challenges

June 11, 2010, 1:55 am | View Comments

I have a brand-new opening to my show featuring America’s Radio Sweetheart (and Sound of Young America host) Jesse Thorn! It makes me sound far more professional than I deserve.

Also discussed in this episode:

  • There is a recycling bin thief on the loose in Baltimore!
  • For the next month, I’ve challenged myself to cook at home and not eat in restaurants or order take-out.
  • Why stop there? For the next month, I’ve cut myself off from television. Instead, I’ll try to use that time to be more creative? Will it work? Tune in next week to hear how crazy I am!

Enjoy!

Ep. 9: Go Atlantis!

May 26, 2010, 12:25 am | View Comments

This is the full audio account of my road trip to Florida for the launch of STS-132! Hear authentic sounds of a motel on the outskirts of Savannah, Georgia! Hear the equally authentic but potentially more thrilling sounds of a motel in Titusville, Florida! Hear actual interviews with my actual father and actual sister! And, most thrillingly of all, hear the extremely genuine sound of an authentic Space Shuttle launch from its pad in Florida into orbit.

I’m proud of this one.

Enjoy!

Ep. 8: The Double Down

April 22, 2010, 1:19 am | View Comments

In this episode, my friend Josh joins me for an evening of mild self-destruction as we try KFC’s new Double Down, the grease-slick frankensandwich that has no business existing. We eat it so you don’t have to. I can almost still taste the sodium.

Enjoy!

Ep. 7: Brooklyn

April 21, 2010, 1:13 am | View Comments

In this episode:

  • I almost get kicked out of Target but forget to press “record” so I miss the whole thing (but artfully reconstruct the story)
  • I visit Rob and Amber at their Brooklyn apartment
  • I play back some highlights from Amber’s Sing-Along With Strangers

Enjoy!

Ep. 6: Driving to work

April 9, 2010, 2:15 am | View Comments

This morning on the drive to work, I decided to record a podcast episode. It had been a while since I’d done one and I felt bad.

I go on a rant about politics aimed pretty much at politicians and not based in any kind of ideology except for the fact that I hate it when people act like children who want candy.

Then I complain about the weather. It’s like one-way smaltalk.

Then, I encourage you to visit The Amber Show and learn all about her sing-along in Prospect Park this Saturday at 11:00 am!

Ep. 5: A conversation with Camillo

February 25, 2010, 11:30 am | View Comments

In this episode I introduce you to my friend Mike Camillo. He’s decided to eat better, exercise more, and lose weight.

In order to track his progress and keep himself motivated, he takes a shirtless photos of himself each Friday and posts it to Facebook for everyone to see, along with the latest scale reading. Bold stuff.

Ep. 4: Cold Weather and Leaving Facebook

January 7, 2010, 2:00 am | View Comments

It’s cold in Baltimore! Maybe it’s not the cold so much as it is the wind. And by “it” I mean the terrible stabbing feeling I get in every inch of exposed skin whenever I step outside the safe and wam confines of my apartment.

Also, I canceled my Facebook account and put my home phone number (443–424-2846) in my Twitter bio. Dumb or brilliant idea? It’s soo soon to tell. (Nobody’s called me yet.)

Ep. 3: Star-struck via Email

January 5, 2010, 7:34 am | View Comments

Let’s get cranky! In this episode, I discuss everything that’s wrong with entertainment and what’s wrong with everybody who enjoys terrible entertainment. Also, I get an email from Tom Green and babble like a fanboy.
