Two Inches of Snow
January 8, 2010, 9:43 am View CommentsOvernight, we got just enough snow in Baltimore to make my street an adventure this morning. Though some area schools got two-hour delays (and some are even closed!), my street was as bad as it got. Once onto the main and larger secondary roads, things were just wet.
It’s funny how I still get excited about two-hour delays and school closings since they have no impact on my routine. I still check the local morning news to see how bad it is, and part of me still gets giddy when we’re hit with a storm. I love the way snow looks and how it makes the city quiet when it falls. I even kind of like driving in it. (I pretend I’m steering a boat.)
It made for a gorgeous drive this morning. The clouds began to break, and the pink early-morning light came up from the horizon and made the snow on the trees appear to glow. I took some video that I’ll put up here later tonight.

Ep. 4: Cold Weather and Leaving Facebook
January 7, 2010, 2:00 am View CommentsIt’s cold in Baltimore! Maybe it’s not the cold so much as it is the wind. And by “it” I mean the terrible stabbing feeling I get in every inch of exposed skin whenever I step outside the safe and wam confines of my apartment.
Also, I canceled my Facebook account and put my home phone number (443–424-2846) in my Twitter bio. Dumb or brilliant idea? It’s soo soon to tell. (Nobody’s called me yet.)
